June 1, 2009 marked a change in the American auto industry. For years the auto makers and the unions have shown they will demand entitlement for themselves. Just enough wasn't enough for all parties involved. The failure of company executives to see into the future and union leaders to be realistic in its demands are probably the two biggest reason we come to this day. GM and all American car builders failed to see the need for auto's that are Eco friendly that will help America ween itself off foreign oil and unions asking for compensation that they knew could not be sustained forever.
June 1, marks the end of entitlement for the car makers and their unions. Their greed has pushed the American auto industry over the edge to the point of no return. The fact that GM has officially declared bankruptcy is all the proof we need of what happened here.
The American auto industry must move forward. With help from The US Recovery Act, other governments and sacrifice from unions the industry can move forward and recover.
The auto industry in America was the spine of the industrial revolution. From Henry Fords assembally line to every small inventor the auto industry has played a part in history that can't be denied. With everyone pulling together to do things like "Buy American" we can get through this and have a vibrant auto industry in the US and leading the way in Eco friendly tranportation that will help America grow, not increase our dependancy on other governments.
