Marking the anniversary week of the unofficial meltdown of the economy Obama says things are better. The president says that with the help of all Nation the economic free fall is over, but there is still lots to do.
At the G20 Summit Obama intends to work with other countries to secure the global economy by leading the way.
Barack Obama will ask Congress for tough common sense rules to prevent similar meltdown. He says though Wall Street has its issues all citizens who barrow money from bank and take out morgages need to take personal responsibility and lenders need to be more honest.

Rules to keep consumers and lender honest could include, Forming a new "Consumer Financial Interest Protection Agency" to keep tabs on lenders and borrowers. The agency would make rules to keep consumers from hidden fee's and penalties being attached to loans. Outrageous interest increases for late payments and so on.

With the next G20 Summit approaching in Pittsburgh, the President goes over the progress in stemming a global economic crisis. He discusses the impact of the Recovery Act, and pledges that "lobbyists for big Wall Street banks" will not prevent real reform for the future, including a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

This week the President discusses the multitude of problems and opportunities before the world through the prism of Passover and Easter: "These are two very different holidays with their own very different traditions. But it seems fitting that we mark them both during the same week. For in a larger sense, they are both moments of reflection and renewal. They are both occasions to think more deeply about the obligations we have to ourselves and the obligations we have to one another, no matter who we are, where we come from, or what faith we practice.

A very fitting speech for the criticism President Obama received this week. If you haven't been watch his trip overseas he bowed to the Saudi King. Well know one has seen a sitting president do this.

Cable news networks jumped on this saying he is bowing down to foreign governments. It was also said that he is moving America away from religion.

We realy need to watch President Obama and decide for ourselves if we like the direction he is going. No cable news network can do that for any of us.

The Quickest and Broadest Tax Cut Ever For USA

On March 24, 2009, in Weekly Address, by Obama Watcher

Two important takeaways from the President's Weekly Address this morning.

#1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will start having an impact as soon as a few weeks from now, in the form of the quickest and broadest tax cut in history:

"Because of what we did, 95% of all working families will get a tax cut -- in keeping with a promise I made on the campaign. And I’m pleased to announce that this morning, the Treasury Department began directing employers to reduce the amount of taxes withheld from paychecks -- meaning that by April 1st, a typical family will begin taking home at least $65 more every month. Never before in our history has a tax cut taken effect faster or gone to so many hardworking Americans."

#2, once the economy has recovered and we’ve laid the groundwork for a sustainable future, the President is committed to taking on the massive deficits we inherited:

"That work begins on Monday, when I will convene a fiscal summit of independent experts and unions, advocacy groups and members of Congress to discuss how we can cut the trillion-dollar deficit that we’ve inherited. On Tuesday, I will speak to the nation about our urgent national priorities, and on Thursday, I’ll release a budget that’s sober in its assessments, honest in its accounting, and that lays out in detail my strategy for investing in what we need, cutting what we don’t, and restoring fiscal discipline."
